Harrison is a thriving community that offers an excellent park system, as well as numerous playgrounds and facilities for outdoor sports in Hudson County. With a population of over 14,000 people, Harrison , has an area of just over 1.2 square miles and is a "path train" away from New York City.

The Harrison station on the PATH regional rail system offers service to Newark, Jersey City, Hoboken and New York City and Harrison residents enjoy the world-renowned cultural, dining and shopping options of the city. They also have a variety of dining and shopping options located throughout Hudson County, including the restaurants and shops.

Recreational activities are available for children year-round, and residents of all ages enjoy the activities made available through the town's Community Center, which is located at the site of the former Warner Theater.

Harrison is conveniently located in close proximity to many major roadways and public transportation options, allowing fast commutes to New York City. Route 7 and U.S. Interstate Route 280 are both located nearby, as is the Garden State Parkway.

The Harrison Public Schools is comprised of four schools. Schools in the district (with 2003-04 enrollment data from the National Center for Education Statistics for the three schools in the district as of this time) are Lincoln Elementary School (which houses 872 students in grades Pre-Kindergarten to 5th), Washington Middle School(which houses 362 students in grades 6th to 8th), Harrison High School (which houses 719 students in grades 9th to 12th), and the soon to be opened New Harrison High School.
 
After a few years of delays, Red Bull and the Anschutz Entertainment Group (AEG) announced in 2006 that Red Bull Park will be the new home of the Major League Soccer team, Red Bull New York. The new stadium is part of the large redevelopment plan for Harrison. The stadium will hold 25,000 fans and will feature a European style roof. In addition to soccer, Red Bull Park will also host games for professional men's lacrosse and international rugby teams as well as championship matches on the collegiate and secondary school levels. Furthermore, AEG Live is sponsoring 8-12 national concerts at the stadium each year.
